Joint sole agency

An arrangement where two estate agents market a home together and share a single commission, whichever of them finds the buyer.

Joint sole agency is used to widen reach — for example pairing a local agent with one that has a London or specialist office. You pay one fee, usually slightly higher than a single sole-agency fee, split between the two firms.

It differs from multi-agency, where several agents compete and only the one that sells is paid, at a higher rate.
