Privacy policy

How FindYourAgent collects, uses and protects your personal data. Short version: only what we need, shared with our partner GetAgent so up to 3 estate agents in your postcode area can contact you about valuing and marketing your home, kept for 12 months, then deleted.

Withdrawing consent (read this first)

You can withdraw your consent for marketing contact and data sharing at any time, with no penalty: • Visit findyouragent.co.uk/withdraw-consent — a one-page form, actioned within 72 hours. • Or email privacy@findyouragent.co.uk from the address you originally used. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew. Note that estate agents already introduced to you hold their own copies of your details under their own policies — you may need to contact them directly.

Who we are

FindYourAgent is a UK home-valuation and estate-agent introduction service, trading as MRGN VENTURES LTD, a company registered in England & Wales. We act as the data controller for the personal information you provide on this website. Data controller contact: • Email: privacy@findyouragent.co.uk (data and consent) or hello@findyouragent.co.uk (general) • Registered office: MRGN VENTURES LTD, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ • You can also reach us via the contact form at findyouragent.co.uk/contact. We have not appointed a statutory Data Protection Officer because we are not required to under UK GDPR Article 37, but the contact above is the responsible point for all data-protection enquiries and rights requests.

What we collect

Property details from the calculator: postcode, property type, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, condition, tenure, reason for selling and timeframe. Contact details when you request agent introductions: full name, email address, phone number, full postcode, preferred contact time, and any free-text notes you add. Proof of consent: the exact wording you agreed to, the date and time you agreed, and (where available) the IP address. Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages viewed. We use this to keep the site secure and working.

How we use it (and our legal basis)

To produce your indicative valuation (legitimate interests — running the service you've asked for). To forward your enquiry to our partner GetAgent.co.uk so up to 3 estate agents in your postcode area can contact you (consent — you tick separate, granular boxes on the form, and you can withdraw at any time). To respond to support emails and operate the service (legitimate interests / contract). To prevent fraud, abuse and bot submissions (legitimate interests). To comply with our legal obligations (legal obligation). We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects, and we don't send marketing emails unless you opt in.

Who we share it with

Partner — GetAgent.co.uk (Move with Us Ltd): with your consent, we forward your enquiry — including the contact details and property information you provide — to GetAgent. They use the data to introduce you to up to 3 estate agents operating in your postcode area. GetAgent and the individual estate agents who contact you become independent data controllers for any data shared with them after that, and their own privacy policies apply. Service providers (data processors): hosting and database, email infrastructure, error monitoring and analytics. They process data only on our instructions and under written contracts that meet UK GDPR requirements. Legal: we will disclose data if required by law, court order or to protect our rights. We never sell your personal data and we never share it for unrelated third-party marketing.

Marketing contact and the Telephone Preference Service (TPS / CTPS)

Estate agent calls about your property valuation rely on your specific, informed consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). By ticking the marketing-consent box on the form you give that consent — and you understand it overrides any TPS or Corporate TPS registration you hold for these specific calls. That override applies only to calls from the agents we introduce you to, in connection with your valuation enquiry. It does not affect any other TPS-protected calls. You can withdraw consent at any time using findyouragent.co.uk/withdraw-consent (see top of this policy), which stops any further calls, SMS or email from us and from GetAgent. Individual agents will also stop on request — contact them direct if they have already been in touch.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK (typically the EEA or USA). Where this happens we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, plus appropriate technical safeguards.

How long we keep it

Valuation enquiries: 12 months from submission, then deleted or fully anonymised. Note that once your enquiry has been forwarded to GetAgent and to individual estate agents, they hold their own copies under their own retention policies. Proof of consent: 24 months after withdrawal, so we can evidence compliance if challenged. Support emails: 24 months. Backups: rolling 30-day window. We may keep aggregated, anonymised statistics indefinitely — these can't be traced back to you.

How we keep it safe

Data is stored on UK/EU servers, encrypted at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2+). Access is restricted to a small team using least-privilege controls and multi-factor authentication. We use row-level security policies on the database and we review access regularly.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to: access your data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent at any time (which won't affect the lawfulness of past processing). Fastest route: findyouragent.co.uk/withdraw-consent (one-click) for consent withdrawal, or email privacy@findyouragent.co.uk for any other rights request. We aim to respond within 5 working days and will always reply within the statutory 30 days. If you want your data deleted by GetAgent or by an individual estate agent who has already received it, you may also need to contact them directly — we'll point you in the right direction on request. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

Children

FindYourAgent is intended for property owners aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always live at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will be highlighted on the site for 30 days.
